The matchmaking behind this week’s off-market sale

This week we celebrated the settlement of a wonderful off-market sale, and it got us thinking about something we hear from homeowners all the time.

“We’d love to sell off-market if we could.”

We understand why. The idea of finding the perfect buyer without a public campaign is incredibly appealing. But successful off-market sales don’t happen by chance, they happen when the right agent matches the right buyer with the right home.

This week’s settlement is a perfect example.

Nearly nine years ago, one of our agents helped the owners purchase their South Fremantle home. Through years of staying in touch, she knew they were beginning to think about selling.

At the same time, a couple had narrowly missed out on another property. Rather than simply moving on, she took the time to really understand what they were looking for. With over 15 years of experience selling, appraising and watching the local market closely, she immediately thought of that South Fremantle home.

One conversation with the owners led to a private inspection. The buyers walked through the front door and instantly knew they had found their home. After careful negotiations, the owners secured the ability to stay in the home until the end of the year and the buyers successfully secured their dream home.

That’s the art of matchmaking.

It’s built on relationships, deep local knowledge and truly understanding both buyers’ and sellers’ needs and goals. It’s also why every couple of weeks or so, we’re fortunate enough to bring the right buyer and the right home together through a White House Confidential sale.

Of course, this approach isn’t right for every property. Sometimes a public campaign is still the best way to achieve the strongest result. That’s why every strategy starts with a conversation.

If you’re thinking about selling, whether that’s next month or next year, we’d love to meet with you to understand your needs, your goals and view your home.
