There’s More To The Story Than The Scoreboard

Even if you don’t follow the footy, it was hard to miss the build-up to Thursday night’s blockbuster between the Fremantle Dockers and the Sydney Swans. A sold-out Optus Stadium, the AFL’s top two teams, and a game many were calling a Grand Final preview.

Then, if you woke up this morning and simply looked at the final score, you wouldn’t know the full story.

At half-time, Fremantle hadn’t kicked a goal. Despite creating opportunities and sticking to their process, the scoreboard simply wasn’t reflecting their effort. In a post-game interview, Head Coach Justin Longmuir shared that his message to the players at half-time was simple: keep trusting the process. Keep doing the right things, and eventually the scoreboard would take care of itself.

It certainly did.

The Dockers piled on 100 points in the second half to record one of the most memorable wins in the club’s history.

It got us thinking about today’s property market.

Right now, buyers are taking longer to make decisions, homes are spending longer on the market, and achieving a premium result requires more conversations, more home opens, more private inspections, more follow-up and more persistence than it has for many years. Just like football, the scoreboard doesn’t always tell the whole story.

Behind every successful sale are countless buyer conversations, inspections, follow-up calls, negotiations and refinements to strategy. Much of the work happens long before the result becomes visible.

We believe this is where experience, consistency, teamwork and culture matter most. Regardless of the market dynamics, we remain committed to doing the work every day: nurturing buyers, refining strategy, communicating openly with our clients and supporting one another as a team. While we can’t control how quickly the market responds, we can control the quality and consistency of everything we do.

Just like Thursday night, the best results don’t always come quickly. They come from having the right people beside you, doing the work consistently and trusting the process until the scoreboard catches up.
