Celebrating Remarkable Performances in Paris and Perth

The first week of the 2024 Paris Olympics has been a showcase of extraordinary talent, with our Australian athletes making a significant impact, winning an incredible eight gold medals, six silver and four bronze. The performances have been particularly striking in women’s events – with women athletes winning all eight of the gold medals so far including an Olympic record-smashing performance by the 4x200m women’s freestyle relay team.

Among the 462 athletes selected to represent Australia are four remarkable local athletes: Annabelle McIntyre, a rowing gold medallist from the Tokyo Olympics, Matt Wearne also a Tokyo Olympic gold medallist in sailing, Zoe Thomson an Olympian in sailing, and Yale Steinepreis an Olympian in sprint canoe. Their hard work and dedication exemplify what can be achieved with commitment, discipline, and passion.

This year’s Olympics also celebrates a milestone in gender parity, with women representing half of the participating athletes for the first time. This balanced representation underlines the exceptional talent and resilience of female athletes, significantly contributing to Australia’s success at these Games.

As we cheer for Annabelle, Matt, Zoe, and Yale, and all Australian athletes competing at Paris 2024, we celebrate their remarkable achievement of Olympic selection and extend our very best wishes. Go Team Australia!
